Our Founder
Meet Gus Dean, the founder behind what's now Good Day Coffee. His philosophy was refreshingly straightforward: coffee should simply be excellent and accessible to everyone. No pretentious terminology required. With his genuine smile and hearty laugh, Gus had a natural talent for bringing people together.
He established Gus Dean Coffee in Eagan, Minnesota with an unwavering commitment to quality. Sourcing exceptional beans globally through partnerships with passionate suppliers, GDC focused on small-batch roasting that highlighted natural flavors rather than over-roasted bitterness. His signature cold brew was remarkably clean and pure—just exceptional coffee without additives, versatile enough to enjoy straight or customized.
Above all, Gus envisioned coffee as a vehicle for connection. He created an atmosphere that made everyone feel like part of something special—like spending time with a friend. Though he's moved on, that distinctive feeling remains.
Enter Rochelle, who joined Gus two years ago, quickly becoming his operations and marketing specialist and close friend. She deeply understood his vision, his people-first approach, and his quality standards.
When Gus decided to pursue new ventures, Rochelle was the natural successor after years of close collaboration and shared values. Today, Good Day Coffee honors that legacy. We maintain his commitment to straightforward, exceptional coffee and welcoming atmosphere. While Gus himself may no longer be behind the counter, his spirit lives on in every batch we roast.
